This man although an infantryman has
‘obtained’ a pony to ease his march following Henry
Tudor to his destiny at Bosworth field. He wears a livery coat in the
Tudor colours of green and white and has discarded his Italian made sallet
helmet and plate placart, which like much of his other kit, including his
bill are slung from his mount.
Nevertheless, since he could be in
contact with the enemy at short notice he has retained his mail shirt,
brigandine and plate arm defences. He has no defences for his legs shown,
these could be slung from the other side of his pony or he may rely on an
ability to move more swiftly to avoid injury.
This billman could be an English or
Welsh adherent of the Tudors or even one of the professional foot soldiers
Henry brought with him out of his exile in France.
